What do I do if there is a septic odor in my house?

First, make sure there isn't a dry drain in a sink or shower by running water for a couple of minutes in each. A dry drain will allow gases from the septic system to get into your home. If there is still an odor, call your plumber for further evaluation.

What do I do if there is a septic odor outside?

An odor outside could come from several different sources, such as the vent on your roof, the vent over the leach field, breakout over the leach area or from a neighbor's septic system. Try to determine the source, or call our office for help and suggestions for a solution.

What is breakout?

Breakout occurs when the septic water (effluent) no longer gets absorbed through the leaching area. It comes to the surface causing odors and health hazards.
