| Question: |
What do I do if there is a septic odor in my house? |
| Answer: |
First, make sure there isn't a dry drain in a sink or shower by running water for a couple of minutes in each. A dry drain will allow gases from the septic system to get into your home. If there is still an odor, call your plumber for further evaluation. |
| Question: |
What do I do if there is a septic odor outside? |
| Answer: |
An odor outside could come from several different sources, such as the vent on your roof, the vent over the leach field, breakout over the leach area or from a neighbor's septic system. Try to determine the source, or call our office for help and suggestions for a solution. |
| Question: |
What is breakout? |
| Answer: |
Breakout occurs when the septic water (effluent) no longer gets absorbed through the leaching area. It comes to the surface causing odors and health hazards. |
